How to distinguish the real AK2 and AK2i
This is AK2i.
This is the first type of AK2 and AK2i. It has a window in the shell. Please notice the banner of the chip which AK2 and AK2i used. It called “Actel”.
This is the second type of AK2 and AK2i. There’s no window in the shell anymore.

Update file for AK2i of language issue(HWID 44)
AK2i update file for EUR/US DSi
This update file is to resolve the issue of AK2i can only be run on DSi which set language to English. You do not need to update if you’re using JAP DSi.
How to use
1.Set the language of your DSi to English.
2.Copy ak2ifw_update_hw44.nds to your MicorSD card and put it to AK2i.
3.Launch AK2i and select to run the update file.
4.Follow the instructions of the update program to finish update.
Notice
This update file can be only used on AK2i which has HWID “44″. You can press “start” then select “help” in AK’s menu to check your HWID.
There’re two HWID of AK2i. The update file for HWID “81″ can be found at www.acekard.com/download.php#ak2.
AK2 and AK2i both use the chip of “SST” and it’s 48 pins. Some batches of AK2 used other banners of  48 pins chips. But all AK2i use this “SST” 48 pins chip.
Conclusion:
1. The chip on the back of the PCB is “Actel” or little black glue circle. This is very important.
2. The chip on another side of PCB is a 48 pins chip of “SST”. Some batches of AK2 used other banners of 48 pins chips. But they’re all                48 pins.
3. Please refer to the 2 items above  as the main symbol of real AK2 and AK2i because the package of retail had changed many times.
We offer one year warranty for real AK2 and AK2i. You can contact your reseller for a replacement for any issue of the real AK2 and AK2i. We do not guaranty any safe use of firmware on fake AK2 and AK2i, and on your DS or DSi. We won’t offer one year warranty for fake ones in any case. Please pay attention when you’re buying Acekard. Fixed saving issue of 3690.
Warnning! Please delete the old 512k save file before using this new menu. And 3690 uses a save file of 256mbit. So it’ll take a very long time to create new save file when you first entering the game. Please be patient.

Support save files which end with “.sav”. Notice: If there’re “.sav” file and “.nds.sav” files in the same folders, the “.sav” one will be used. And you can’t use multi-save file system in this case. If you want to use multi-save file system please modify your “.sav” file to “.nds.sav”.
For example: The name of game is “myndsgame.nds”. Then you can use save file of “myndsgame.sav”. If you want to use multi-save file system then please modify the save file to “myndsgame.nds.sav”.

This is a lab work, it works ONLY in LAB. Even though we can go this far, it is almost impossible to make a commercial product.
There is a major problem that can’t be resolved, at least for now.It seems DSi did many sanity checks to make sure there is no more fcards.

btw: we assume there are more than one modes on DSi, we still haven’t found any way to access the SD card slot in origin DS mode.

Thanks to .:Mik:.(Michele Toriello) to bring us this pretty homebrew to update firmware via WIFI. You can use this application to update official firmware or custom firmware for AK2 and AKRPG easily. Just copy “OsUp.nds” and folder “OsUp” to the root of your TF card or NAND Flash if you’re using AKRPG and run it.
Here is the pictures of new package of acekard2.1. This time we use a paper box and add “ver 2.1″ on the sticker. And in this version there’s no hole and gibbose chips in the shell.
The new version of acekard2.1 is more stable with high quality and less power consuming.
